How to use the XML Sitemap Generator

Include only canonical, indexable URLs
Your sitemap should only list pages you want search engines to index. Don't include noindex pages, paginated archives, or URLs blocked by robots.txt.

Set priority relative to your own site
Priority is a hint about which pages matter most on YOUR site. Homepage gets 1.0, main category pages 0.8, individual posts 0.6. It does not compare across different websites.

Update lastmod only when content actually changes
Don't set lastmod to today's date on every page — Google uses this to decide what to re-crawl. False lastmod updates waste your crawl budget.
